WHAT IF SILENT WAS LOUD?
Amplifying inaudible sounds of movements creates chaos in the world of sounds. Our ordinary interactions become distorted. New silhouettes emerge in familiar situations - silent takes over loud. Analysing familiar motion sequences, those sonic shapes attach to the object as imprints - sweat stains that ate their way into the fabric. Sound is being weaved into textile.
The project dBShift (decibel shift) was shown at "The Essence" Exhibition 2016. The stool has been created to bring the experience to the visitor: When taking a seat to watch the film, the seat amplifies the "sound of sitting down" by transporting the signal from stiched-in fields of conductive thread to a built-in mini-computer.
